The task we were given: Create an overall visual brand that will launch and cultivate the development of Burn Centers of America – that visual brand will be the common thread for future Burn Centers nationwide.
We got to work, putting our heads together to cook up some innovative Mindbru, from which emerged the final concept for the Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America.
BRCA does much more than just burn care, with services including reconstructive surgery, treatment of skin and soft tissue disorders, and more. Their logo needed to represent them accurately and encompass everything they do as well as portray the direction they were headed as a nationwide corporation.
As a whole, the icon can be interpreted as an abstracted American flag, symbolizing the entire US. Within this there are two components – the stripes in the shape of a folded flag represent a wrapped bandage and healing; the blue portion of the icon contains three stars, calling back to mind the American flag while communicating the three pillars of the BRCA mission: healing patients, healing families, healing lives. Taking the form of a shield, the icon conveys that BRCA will protect and fight for patients and families while treating and healing them.
