I would have gotten the first one because we have just had that conversation at our house. For our son's 21st birthday I wanted to get him a watch for just that reason. Completely on the right track with target!!!! Sadly, I never saw the ad...sadly because I fail to read the ads in the Chronicle. (insert frowny face)

http://www.thewildernessdowntown.com is another site experiment that I've seen posted by some friends. I believe this was much better than the spiderman, but unfortunately it doesn't run properly Firefox and it took 3 times to get it to work in safari. I guess it was optimized to run in Chrome (because it was built by friends of google?)

I must say that whenever I get this warning "This film is processor intensive. Please shut down other programs and close unnecessary browser tabs. Doing this will enhance your viewing experience. Thanks." I hold my breath. I mean, my machine isn't super slow and it's faster than the average bear, but sending my processor on marathon isn't kind for a start to the week.

Finally it did run (the video, not my computer). I was mostly impressed that they got windows to open and sync with the video. It also uses some dynamic data from google images and applies some effects to them to make them blend in to the film. This was rather neat. The draw back is the animation (besides the panning and the birds) wasn't done in html5. This is just video work display frame per frame in a browser, which isn't super hard to do (yet very processor intensive, it was a little choppy) in order to prove a point that html5 has hope of taking over flash.

It should be no big wake up call, but flash isn't video editor either. I'd say pulling the dynamic data should be the strength of html5, yet ActionScript2 could pull off more crazy things than this (and adobe has had AS3 out for years). Simple things like this (below) would be a nightmare for html5.

As dull as my mind actually is, I'm not buying that the Schwinn is Ducati.

Expensive, but I felt cool. (that was their goal, right??)
l bought POM juice because of the cool shape of the bottle and the logo. I needed some (pomgranite juice) to make a drink that Oprah had posted the recipe for on her blog. It probably tasted the same as the other brands, but the bottle was way cooler and therefore justified the twice as much price, ha ha, in my mind anyways. check it out at:
